Heavenly Citizenship

God confers a heavenly citizenship when we become Christian. Our new citizenship may demand difficult choices, particularly when we have to choose between our heavenly and earthly homelands. First-century Christians, like those in Philippi, understood the pull of patriotism, pride, and pageantry. Like us, they were faced with the tough choice between their allegiance to their citizenship in this world and the one to come.
