Godly fear is healthy and leads us to reject sin and evil. We fear falling short of God’s expectations, and that fear motivates us to live righteously. God blesses those who fear Him. He teaches them, instills confidence in the face of enemies, opens his ears to their prayers, and promises them life. The many scriptures that command us to “fear not” warn us about a different fear, worldly fear. And as we grow in our love for God and one another, our fear of God’s judgment should diminish.
